Developing tourism

The Belper North Mill Trust is developing new ideas to promote its museum in Strutt’s North Mill and to encourage tourism in Belper, to attract greater numbers of visitors and to introduce them to all the town has to offer. One of our new ideas is to introduce regular circular walks around the town aimed at tourists and visitors as well as interested locals. While our weekly Sunday heritage walks are very varied, these walks would operate on other days to a set timetable and follow a route with a fixed start and finish point. They will need to be pre-booked with a limited group size to provide the best experience for everyone who comes on them.

We have developed three alternative routes for the walks, of different lengths, but have yet to develop the scripts which will need to be designed for tourists, visitors and for different nationalities and interests – and our guides will need to be knowledgeable, witty, interesting and have the ability to respond to FAQs.

The routes for these walks and how they might be developed are discussed in our Walks Proposal which can be downloaded below..

Do let us know what you think about it, how our ideas might be developed and improved – and if you would be interested in being involved.

Just e-mail us on feedback@belpernorthmill.org.uk

We look forward to hearing from you and would welcome your replies by no later than 30 August.
