October 7th (2pm) Belper and Morley Park Railway

Start: Openwoodgate Crossroads (DE56 0SD)

Leader: Trevor Griffin

Following the horse-worked railway, built between 1815 and 1842, that carried coal from Drury Lowe coal mines around Denby to Belper. The route follows the final alignment, with its rope-worked incline into the Henmore valley and returns along the earlier route that pursued a winding course to climb the same hill. Some stiles and rough ground.
